Folio drafts with your own sources, checks every citation, and pairs with our free PRISMA and sample-size tools.
What is a CONSORT flow diagram?
The CONSORT flow diagram tracks participants through the phases of a randomized controlled trial — from those assessed for eligibility, through randomization and allocation to each arm, to follow-up and the numbers analysed. It makes attrition and protocol deviations transparent, and journals reporting trials expect it.
This generator produces the CONSORT 2010 two-arm diagram. It complements Folio's free PRISMA generator for systematic reviews — the two signature reporting diagrams of clinical research.
Frequently asked
Is this CONSORT diagram generator free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up. It runs entirely in your browser, and you can use the diagram in any publication or report.
Which CONSORT version does it follow?
It follows the CONSORT 2010 flow diagram (Schulz et al.) for a two-arm parallel-group randomized trial — enrollment, allocation, follow-up, and analysis.
Can I download it for publication?
Yes. Download a vector SVG (scales without pixelation — ideal for journals) or a high-resolution PNG. Both are generated in your browser.
What if an arm has no losses or exclusions?
Leave those counts at zero and the corresponding lines are omitted, keeping the diagram clean.
Do I need to cite this tool?
No. The diagram is yours to use. Cite the CONSORT statement itself in your methods, as journals require.
