Product Updatesv1.19.18

v1.19.18 β€” The methodology assistant now builds the survey for you

Surveyor's methodology assistant used to end with a wall of advice telling you to go build the instrument somewhere else β€” now it builds it, importing every validated scale it recommends and drafting items for the rest. Institution admins can manage buildings and rooms from the admin console. Surveyor's mobile sweep is finished: the results tabs, distribute, longitudinal, and Delphi views all work on a phone now, and a preview-page crash is fixed. Also: save any paper or scale straight to your library from its page, delete a source from the editor without leaving your draft, and a document-rendering bug on the public verification page is fixed.

Product Updatesv1.19.20

v1.19.20 β€” A new look, and bring your own domain

Folio has a new visual identity: the Fraunces wordmark front and center, a gold full stop, and cobalt taking its place in the favicon and avatars. Institutions can now serve Folio from their own domain, verified by DNS. Course-wide reading lists are reachable again no matter how many modules a course has. Discovery Agents and Radar now search arXiv and Europe PMC too, not just OpenAlex. Also: a distinct start flow for office-hours instructors, the Made-with-Folio mark now reaches docx and PDF exports, and a save-to-library bug and some stale pricing-page copy are fixed.

Product Updatesv1.19.15

v1.19.15 β€” Requests & Approvals gets a student front door

A student can now actually see and file the requests their institution set up for them β€” the Requests & Approvals engine had the admin side and the APIs but no page to reach it, until now. Discovery Agents narrates trends and quiet spells in its own findings, and a briefing email can link out to the public share page. Also: an instructor grading a class no longer burns their own export quota, rejoining a course after a drop works instead of silently doing nothing, section instructors are counted in the double-booking check, and the Preprint tag tells you when it did not actually save.

Product Updatesv1.19.16

v1.19.16 β€” Leave of absence joins Requests & Approvals, and dark mode respects your institution

A student can now request a leave of absence and, separately, request to come back, through the same Requests & Approvals page institutions already use for other requests. Tenant brand colors now render correctly in dark mode automatically, instead of forcing an admin to pick a lighter color to pass the contrast check. A writer using dark mode can now keep the document itself on white "paper" while the rest of the editor stays dark. Also: Radar can track funding-agency grant feeds, and a batch of smaller fixes.

Product Updatesv1.19.17

v1.19.17 β€” Search the validated-scales library, and Surveyor works on a phone

The public validated-scales library gets a search bar and field filter so you can find one instrument in 90 without scrolling. The Surveyor question-flow builder β€” previously unusable on a phone, since its canvas only understood mouse events β€” now opens the linear list view automatically on small screens. Changing the document font in the editor now actually reaches the references, notes, and bibliography, not just the body text. Also: Folio Search links out to matching public Discovery Agent briefings, agents can pull citation-graph candidates from your own library, and a handful of smaller fixes.

Product Updatesv1.19.12

v1.19.12 β€” Academic standing, term-end grade locks, and registrar holds

A student now has a computed academic standing β€” good standing, probation, or suspension β€” derived from their GPA, visible on their own record and the institution roster. Final grades lock automatically after a term closes, with a records-manager override to actually reach it. Registrar-issued holds now block a student from registering or releasing their transcript, not just displaying on their record. Also: department and program heads get scoped admin power over just their own area, external transfer credit can be recorded on a student's waiver, an allocator rerun now sees enrollments made in earlier rounds, and a batch of citation, export, and editor fixes.

Product Updatesv1.19.14

v1.19.14 β€” File uploads and rich text on course units, and Discovery Agents that check your drafts

A course unit can now hold an uploaded file β€” PDF, Word doc, image, or video β€” not just a link, and its text content gets a real rich-text editor with tables. An instructor grading a submission can pull the authorship report straight from the roster. Discovery Agents now judges each finding against your own drafts on its own schedule, instead of waiting for a click. Also: Arabic-language scholarship is easier to find in Search, an institution gets warned (not blocked) if its brand colors are unreadable, and a batch of smaller fixes.

Product Updatesv1.19.13

v1.19.13 β€” Leave a course yourself, and a fully translated audit log

A student can now drop a course they joined by mistake straight from the course page, instead of having to track down an instructor. And the institution audit log β€” previously showing raw English words like "exam" and "institution" to Arabic and Hebrew readers β€” is now fully translated.

Product Updatesv1.19.11

v1.19.11 β€” Degree conferral, a signed export manifest, and a portfolio PDF for faculty

A registrar can now actually graduate a student β€” a Confer degree button appears once every credit is genuinely earned, and the date follows them onto their transcript and directory listing. Record and institution data exports are now cryptographically signed, with a public endpoint to verify a bundle was not altered after export. Faculty with a public profile and an opted-in Folio Page can generate a single downloadable portfolio PDF. Also: retracted papers get a warning badge in search results, a waitlisted student can see their place in line, shared Discovery Agent source lists are finally reachable from a profile and the sitemap, and course-linked assignments now notify enrolled students instead of posting silently.

Aug 13, 2026 4 min read institutions, export, provenance
Bug Fixesv1.19.10

v1.19.10 β€” Instructors see a read-only integrity signal in the grader, and export finally agrees on two columns

The Classroom grader now shows the same source-integrity check writers see on their own manuscript β€” retracted or orphaned citations flagged, with anything it cannot check honestly labeled "unchecked" rather than reading as clean. Two-column export is consistent again: .tex actually renders two columns now, and PDF tells you when it cannot instead of silently dropping them. Also: verify-link previews show the real document title, the AI-assist disclosure toggle is enforced on the public certificate page, and a failed discovery-agent briefing email retries instead of vanishing.

Aug 12, 2026 2 min read classroom, export, provenance
Product Updatesv1.19.9

v1.19.9 β€” Surveyor preregistrations get a tamper-evident timestamp, and your certificate proof is one click away

Creating your first distribution now locks a SHA-256 commitment over your preregistration draft, so a study plan can no longer be quietly edited after data collection starts without it showing. The certificate share card gets a real Download proof button for the offline-verifiable anchor file that was already there, just never linked from anywhere you'd notice. Also: DOCX and PDF exports stop dropping nested and multi-paragraph list items and now honor a figure's alignment and size, Surveyor warns instead of silently undercounting results after an instrument version bump, and the public transcript-verification page is fully localized.

Aug 11, 2026 4 min read surveyor, provenance, export
Bug Fixesv1.19.6

v1.19.6 β€” Citation Checker dismissals stay put, and a few integrity fixes

Dismissing a Citation Checker finding no longer risks hiding a different, newer one after a recheck. Citations made through the legacy footnote style now trigger the retraction warning like any other citation, a failed prerequisite course no longer counts as passed during registration, and Radar digests no longer silently skip papers after a failed send. Also: track a search topic straight into a Discovery Agent, and the Resources menu is now fully keyboard- and screen-reader-accessible.

Aug 10, 2026 3 min read editor, provenance, surveyor
Bug Fixesv1.19.7

v1.19.7 β€” Best/Worst survey branching actually works, and exam timetables export to your calendar

Skip-logic rules built on a Best/Worst ranking question now route respondents correctly instead of misfiring β€” and Folio flags any older rule of yours that still needs a quick fix. Required questions in a survey are now enforced when a response is submitted, not only in the browser, so response counts and auto-close only reflect responses that actually completed every question their path required. Also: a restored keyboard-focus ring in onboarding, and institution exam timetables get an Add to calendar button.

Aug 10, 2026 2 min read surveyor, institutions, accessibility
Bug Fixesv1.19.8

v1.19.8 β€” Exam scheduling catches conflicts before they save, and connecting Claude Desktop is one step

Institution exam timetables now refuse a reversed time window or a room already booked for another exam at that hour, instead of saving and only surfacing the conflict on exam day. The MCP key panel shows your ready-to-paste Claude Desktop config up front, so connecting no longer requires a detour to a help article. Also: search, Discover, and related-sources results now correctly flag more of what is already in your library, and the public Reviewer Report page is fully readable in Arabic and Hebrew.

Product Updatesv1.19.0

v1.19.0 β€” A public researcher directory, and opt-in document rendering on your certificate page

Two new ways to be found and read: a searchable directory of public researcher profiles at /directory, and an opt-in toggle that lets a certificate page show the writing itself, not just its integrity stats. Also: reference numbers in exported bibliographies are fixed, retraction flags now carry into BibTeX/RIS/CSL-JSON exports, the account-deletion warning tells you what you would actually lose, and a few data-safety fixes for institutions and discovery digests.

Aug 4, 2026 3 min read discovery, provenance, editor
Bug Fixesv1.19.1

v1.19.1 β€” Survey export CSVs no longer carry a live formula

A gap in one Surveyor export path meant a respondent's text answer could contain a working spreadsheet formula that ran when a researcher opened the download. Closed everywhere, and Arabic/Hebrew answers now display correctly in Excel too.

Aug 4, 2026 1 min read surveyor, security, exports
Bug Fixesv1.19.2

v1.19.2 β€” Co-editors are now part of the certificate chain

Real-time co-editing and Integrity Certificates finally agree: edits made by a collaborator, not just the document owner, are now recorded in the tamper-evident history the certificate attests to. Also: a blank multi-select question no longer confuses survey branching logic, status pills read correctly in dark mode, a stale claim-check flag no longer lingers after you've already fixed it, onboarding offers Research Radar as a fifth way to get started, and institutions can no longer accidentally open domain-based enrollment to an entire country's worth of schools.

Aug 4, 2026 3 min read provenance, editor, surveyor
Bug Fixesv1.19.3

v1.19.3 β€” Keyboard and screen-reader fixes across the nav, classroom, and Radar

A run of accessibility fixes: the notification bell and Help menu now close with Escape and announce themselves properly to screen readers, a failed classroom submission is announced immediately instead of possibly being missed, and Research Radar's subscription rows are finally reachable by keyboard instead of just their delete button. Also: the public researcher directory now speaks Arabic and Hebrew correctly, with names and affiliations displaying right-to-left.

Aug 4, 2026 2 min read accessibility, discovery, classroom
Product Updatesv1.19.4

v1.19.4 β€” A public Trust & Security page, and a footnote copy-paste fix

A new /trust page lays out, in plain language, how Folio protects your work and proves what’s yours β€” independently verifiable Integrity Certificates, database-enforced access, no data mining, and self-service export & deletion. Also: copying a footnote or citation marker within a document no longer breaks the original’s numbering, and a Discovery Agent’s RSS/Atom feed link now opens a page you can actually read instead of a login wall.

Aug 4, 2026 2 min read provenance, editor, discovery
Bug Fixesv1.19.5

v1.19.5 β€” The free Reference Checker gets a lot more honest

The public Reference Checker no longer flags real books and websites as "possibly fabricated," no longer links to dead DOIs, and now finds famous papers it used to miss β€” plus a redesigned results view. Also: the site nav finally lists all nine free tools instead of five, and links to /scales/[slug] now unfurl with the actual instrument name instead of a generic homepage card.

Product Updatesv1.18.0

v1.18.0 β€” Try Folio Search without an account, and a smarter Radar sort

Folio Search now shows real results to logged-out visitors, not a login wall. Radar gets a relevance-blended sort that ranks your feed against your own library instead of raw citations or raw dates, and the certificate checker now points instructors to Assignments.

Bug Fixesv1.18.1

v1.18.1 β€” Referral credit now survives switching devices

Aug 3, 2026 1 min read referral, bug-fix
Bug Fixesv1.18.2

v1.18.2 β€” Cleaner bibliography exports, and Search relevance that means it

BibTeX/RIS exports no longer choke on an "&" in a title or silently merge two papers by the same author and year. And Search’s "Relevance" sort now uses the same ranking Discovery Agents and Radar do, instead of raw provider order.

Product Updatesv1.18.3

v1.18.3 β€” Your authorship report now names what verifies it

The authorship report exported from the Submission Checklist now says explicitly whether a published Integrity Certificate backs it up β€” and links to it if so. Also: the /record degree-audit widget no longer shows a raw "{count}" placeholder instead of "core" or "elective."

Product Updatesv1.18.4

v1.18.4 β€” Exported figures now link back, and Surveyor inserts carry provenance

Every figure/diagram you export (Studio, PRISMA, CONSORT, forest, funnel) now stamps a clickable link instead of dead text. Content you insert from Surveyor into your manuscript is now tagged with a provenance snapshot. Also: closed a gap that let a suspended institution create programs, terms, or departments through the API.

Product Updatesv1.18.5

v1.18.5 β€” Retraction warnings now show up before you publish or export, not after

If a cited source has been retracted or flagged, Folio now tells you before you publish an Integrity Certificate or export your manuscript β€” not just to the reader checking your certificate afterward. Also: deleting a document forever now warns you first if it would break a published certificate, plus dark-mode contrast fixes on the Library page and screen-reader labels for the Source Inspector.

Product Updatesv1.16.0

v1.16.0 β€” Print actually works, and provenance is easier to see

Print and Save-as-PDF no longer fail on documents with citations or figures β€” the bug that hit nearly every real manuscript. Plus: certificates can be edited or revoked after publishing, the verify link now shows up in DOCX/PDF/LaTeX exports themselves, and search ranks by relevance instead of raw citation count.

v1.17.0 β€” Save-and-continue actually saves, and share links look like Folio

Surveyor save-and-continue now works on public and password-protected survey links, not just invites.
