The idea
As you write, an AI offers inline completions as ghost text after your cursor: finishing a sentence, suggesting alternative phrasing. Press Tab to accept, keep typing to dismiss. Autocomplete, but for academic prose.
Where we are
Not planned. Folio's AI assists your research; it never writes into your document. Ghost-text completions would put machine-written sentences into your draft one Tab at a time, and the words in a Folio draft stay the writer's own. (Tab in the Folio editor indents.)
What Folio does instead
The AI works beside your writing, not inside it:
- Citation suggestions propose sources from your library for the sentence you're on, and you choose whether to cite one.
- Claim checks flag a statement that needs a source and tell you whether something in your library supports it (as you write on Fellow and Chair, by hand on Scholar).
- Proofread and Document Audit list issues and suggestions in a panel; the wording you keep is yours to write.
- Scholar AI answers questions from your own sources, with citations, in its own panel.
