Academic standing, derived from GPA
A student's record now carries a computed academic standing — good standing, probation, or suspension — worked out from their cumulative GPA against the institution's own thresholds. It shows as a badge on the student's own record page and on the version an institution admin sees, so probation status is finally visible somewhere instead of implied by a GPA number nobody was watching.
Grades lock when a term closes — for real this time
Once a term's end date passes, its final grades now lock against further edits — the same idea report cards have always implied, just not previously enforced. A records-manager can still open the lock for a specific case; the first pass at that override existed but a routing gap kept a registrar from actually reaching it, fixed the same day.
Registrar holds now actually hold something back
An institution could already place a hold on a student's record, but it was informational — nothing stopped the student from registering for courses or pulling their transcript while a hold was active. Holds now enforce: an active hold blocks both course registration and transcript release until a registrar clears it.
Also new
- Department and program heads get scoped admin power. Institution admin actions that used to require a full institution-admin role can now be delegated to a department or program head, limited to their own department or program — not a blanket admin grant.
- External transfer credit can be recorded on a waiver. A registrar can now record credit a student transferred in from outside Folio directly on their course waiver, so it counts toward degree progress alongside courses actually taken here.
- A retake cap, enforced at registration. If a registrar sets a max-attempts limit on retaking a course, joining a course now checks and enforces it instead of only surfacing the limit after the fact.
- Registration allocator sees the whole picture across rounds. Re-running the allocator for a later registration round now accounts for seats a student already holds from an earlier round, instead of risking a double-allocation.
- Instructor double-booking gets the same warning as room conflicts. Assigning an instructor to two overlapping course sections now warns, mirroring the existing room-conflict check.
- A domain-mode student gets a real student row on first login, so domain-based enrollment behaves like every other enrollment path instead of needing a separate case.
- A registrar-assigned student ID now survives invite-and-claim — claiming an invited account no longer drops the ID the registrar already set.
- The public course catalog and an unauthenticated
/journals/matchpreview are both live — a prospective student or applicant can browse without an account first. - Add/drop deadlines are enforced, not just displayed on the calendar.
- Citation and export cleanup: legislative bodies (e.g. a state legislature) are now correctly detected as an organization author rather than misparsed as a person; adjacent citations in an export now merge into one parenthetical instead of stacking separately; DOCX export no longer prepends a stray "Page " label and now honors paragraph text alignment; a pasted citation node gets a fresh reference ID so its chip keeps pointing at the right source instead of colliding with the original.
- Editor citation-pill scanning and quick-Cite fixes: the claim-detection pass that scans a sentence now reads existing citation pills correctly instead of treating them as plain text, and the quick-Cite button for a flagged sentence now anchors to the sentence itself instead of drifting.
suggest-citationsanitizes and fails closed on malformed source fields instead of passing them through.- A
/scalespage can hand its scale straight to Surveyor, so building a survey from an existing scale doesn't mean re-entering it. - InviteCard is now localized and appears after a Studio export, not just in its original spot.
- The Radar CTA now appears on all four programmatic-SEO content pillars (
/papers,/scales,/journals,/how-to-cite), not just/scales. - A comped Fellow month now sends a plain heads-up before it lapses — a referred friend gets a reminder email three days out, so the expiry isn't a surprise.
Fixed
- Apex
/institution/<slug>/…URLs now redirect to the tenant subdomain instead of serving (or breaking) content on the wrong host. - The program integrity page no longer reads from retired classroom tables.
- Assignment due-date labels are pinned to UTC, so a due time no longer shifts depending on the reader's local timezone.
