v1.13.0 — A friendlier first run

New accounts now land straight in the product instead of hitting a setup wall. Profile setup is still there when you want it — just optional, and out of your way until then.

  • Why this matters

We watched too many new accounts stall on the way in — a setup flow stood between signing up and doing anything, and a lot of people never made it past it. This release takes that wall down.

Sign up, then start

New accounts now go straight to the dashboard. No forced questionnaire, no "set up your workspace" gate — the first screen is one where you can actually begin: type a topic, import sources, or open a blank draft.

Profile, when you want it

Setting up your profile still matters — it's what powers your public researcher page and citation defaults — so it's still one click away, now as a gentle, dismissible nudge on the dashboard rather than a checkpoint. Finish it in ten seconds, later, or never; either way you're already in.

Why this matters

The fastest way to understand a tool is to use it, not to be configured by it. Getting out of your way on day one is a small change with an outsized effect on whether Folio ever becomes useful to you.
