The idea
A reading mode that strips away the editor's panels and toolbars and presents your document as clean, readable text. Think of it as a print preview that's actually pleasant to read on screen.
Why it matters
The editor is built for writing. But reading your own work back benefits from a different view. When you're in editing mode, you're thinking about formatting and citations. In reading mode, you're thinking about flow, argument, and whether the paper makes sense as a whole. The context switch matters.
Where we are
This feature shipped. Press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + . to switch your document to a read-only, full-screen view with larger, refined typography. Press Esc (or the same shortcut) to go back to editing. Reading mode only changes your own screen; to let someone read a draft without editing it, share it with them as Can view (see Sharing and collaborating). Sources and PDFs open in their own reader window.
