The idea

A reading mode that strips away all editor UI — toolbars, panels, sidebars — and presents your document as clean, readable text. Optimised for reviewing a full draft or sharing a preview with someone who doesn't need editing access. Think of it as a print preview that's actually pleasant to read on screen.

Why it matters

The editor is built for writing. But reading your own work back benefits from a different view. When you're in editing mode, you're thinking about formatting and citations. In reading mode, you're thinking about flow, argument, and whether the paper makes sense as a whole. The context switch matters.

Where we are

We're considering this alongside Focus mode — they share some UI overlap and we'd likely ship them together or in sequence.
