The idea
A proper desktop app for macOS and Windows that keeps working when the internet doesn't. Your documents and your library are available offline; edits queue locally and sync the moment you reconnect. Native niceties too: a real app icon, system menus, and faster startup than a browser tab.
Why it matters
Writing happens on trains, on planes, in libraries with hostile Wi-Fi, and in the last hour before a deadline when the connection drops. A tool that stalls when the network does isn't one you can rely on for the work that matters most. Offline-first means the draft is always there, and the sync is something you never have to think about.
Where we are
Not available yet, but under way. The desktop wrapper and the offline sync model underneath it are mapped out, and the foundation is built: the secure sign-in a native app uses to stay signed in without a live browser session. It's switched off until the app itself ships.
