The idea
Focus mode dims everything outside the paragraph you're actively writing, so your eye stays on the sentence in front of you. The page scrolls typewriter-style to keep your line in view, and a small pill at the bottom of the screen marks that focus mode is on and lets you exit with one click. Panels, the sidebar and the toolbar stay where they were; this isn't a full-screen mode. (For that, see Reading mode.)
Why it matters
The AI panels and source library are powerful, but sometimes you just need to write. When you're in the zone and words are flowing, everything else on the page competes for attention. Focus mode fades the rest of the page so you can concentrate on the writing itself. It's particularly valuable during first drafts, when the goal is output, not polish.
Where we are
This feature shipped. Toggle focus mode in the editor with Cmd/Ctrl + ., and press Esc to leave it. Everything dims except the block at your cursor, so it's just you and the sentence you're writing.
